The Region 2 Head Start Association conducted it's annual conference from November 13 - 17, 2022 in Puerto Rico. The conference was a resounding success and it was so great to welcome everyone back to an in-person conference - the first held by Region 2 since the 2019 conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Over 850 registrations, 64 amazing speakers, and 74 sessions - all combined to provide over 114 hours of educational programming to the attendees!
Attendees had the opportunity to learn from some of the leading experts in the early childhood field, including presentations from:
Dennise Planas and Antonio Freitas from Sesame Street
The Puerto Rico Department of Health
Dr. Guzman of Cook Children's Hospital in Texas
Johana Soto Aguilu who presented "The Art of Listening"
Dana Antonelli and Dora Garraton who presented "Mother Goose is on the Loose"
Paul Behrman of Walnut Leadership
Melvin Gravely of The Gravely Group
Phillip Escoriaza, Senior Counsel at Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP
Ron Roszak of the Institute for Childhood Preparedness
And many, many more!
Institute for Childhood Preparedness Executive Director Andy Roszak also provided the closing keynote, which focused on issues currently impacting Head Start programs.
The next conference is planned for November 2023 in the US Virgin Islands. More information will be forthcoming in the near future, including a call for abstracts/sessions proposals. The 2022 Region 2 Head Start Association Conference was a collaborative effort. The Institute for Childhood Preparedness provided all of the conference planning, support, registration, marketing, speaker/vendor outreach and coordination and overall logistical services for this conference. This work is part of the multi-year partnership between the Institute and the Region 2 Head Start Association. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide support to so many wonderful Head Start programs that make such an impact in their communities each day!
